Hampton Roads Skatepark News

I went up to Northside today to check on the progress. The tranny for the bowls has been poured plus a few more street elements. The Grindline guys should have about five more weeks of work to go before they hand it over to the other contractor. I'm not sure if that means it will be skatable in five weeks or what. I know the city will want to do some landscaping before opening officially.

In other skatepark news, Suffolk just received a $10,000 grant from the Tony Hawk Foundation for their two planned parks. One park is supposed to be a cement plaza style park while the other is going to be a modular park on a slab. The Tony Hawk Foundation is trying to talk Suffolk out of building some shitty pre-fab bullshit. If you live in Suffolk, I suggest you get in touch with parks and rec and let them know how you feel. Be polite about it and thank them for building a park.

It appears Team Pain just built an indoor park in Hampton called Mekos. From the video it looks pretty legit.
