Thanks for this episode..any thoughts on not including any of the three original Matts? Matt Rodriguez designed Cats, Matt Pailes ran the Grasshoper hard.. also Bigfoot, who designed the logo and whose graphics were a big part of the narrative, seems to be linked together with M-Rod trying to start the Beautiful Planet brand..interesting timing on that. I liked Ipath, but never felt comfortable enough to buy their shoes. I want to like them since they are making cupsoles and reasonably skater owned for 2024, but they really are not my thing. It's a lifestyle commitment that isn't me. After doing some research, the Ipath story is kind of peculiar.
To go with the above comment, I believe there is beef between some of the people formerly involved with the company. Bigfoot possibly stated that he wanted nothing to do with Ipath 2024. There was some shady skateboard industry antics going on behind the scenes back in the day, too.
I posted a week of Ipath back in August. My guess would be Kenny Reed was added later in 2000 or 2001.
I agree about the point with the non-sporting good shoe options. I want a new skater owned brand.
Age would be a factor for sure in trick trends. I'm also old so certain things register as stupid for me.
I'm not sure if I keep up with trick trends any more. Everything looks so far beyond anything I could remotely do so I've kind of stopped caring to an extent. That said, there are definitely plenty of tricks I think are gross these days.
