Team Pain To Build Williams Farm

It looks like Team Pain is the company designing Virginia Beach's new Williams Farm skatepark. Come to the design input meeting on April 7th to make sure they don't build some unskatable vertical monster. I'm really hoping for a small bowl that is more fun that scary.

My mom works for the city of Chesapeake and she said they have plans to build a plaza in the future.

All the bowls in HR are big and gnarly. that's not fun for me, so I want a bowl that's fun. I think gnarly bowls are well represented around here and we don't really need anymore. But come to the meeting and have your voice heard. I'm sure Team Pain would prefer to build soemthing gnarlier than what i want.

I went to their news link that you posted here and i scrolled down two pages, all of their projects seem to be street parks exept for two, a vertramp for a demo (80's demo) and then a park in colorado that also has a sick plaza. And as far as I know there is nothing that they have built in the area, How are you sure that they want to build something so gnarly for your taste? Do you know them?

haha, hey guys, this is Tito from Team Pain.
No worries everybody!
We are stoked to be able to build something for all ofyou in you area. I have to say that it has been a pleasure working with the city and you guys should know that they trully want to do it right!

Regarding this this post; we are planning to present a park with some street stuff, good stuff... mostly a plaza with a couple of scultpural trasition elements.

and some representation for trasition elements.
We do like to build big bowls sometimes but we also like to build smaller miniramp style bowls too, a blalanced park is what we try to hit.
We are going to propose some interesting terrain at All levels, I hope all of you show up. Let your opinion be heard...

Thanks for posting this...and know that your "bowl" assumptions are just that, an assumption.

I was wrong to assume anything about Grindline, and now I look like a dick. I am glad to hear that the street course will be more of a plaza. After some major mistakes made at Northside I'm skeptical of all skatepark builders. When I look at the Team Pain site I see a lot of transition, which may be considered street, but not to me... after watching a few of Tim's videos I can see that Team Pain can build what looks like a good street park. I look forward to seeing what you guys come up with for VB.

Get at them Temp!!! Keep them on their toes. Northside got really messed up. And Temp is right Trashmore, Woodstock and Northside all have some pretty gnarly transition. A true plaza (California style) is not represented in the Hampton Roads area. If you want transition you have plenty of options in the area.

PLEASE by all means build a decent sized bowl not a (small one) with good transiton va beach skateparks are mostly street oriented but alot of people including me, need some good transition thats what this place lacks

mdpolen, what would your ideal bowl be? I'm surprised you feel like Hampton Roads lacks "good transition". We have a vert ramp and big (in my opinion) bowl at Trashmore and a vert bowl at northside. To me that represents good transition pretty well. There are zero public bowls around that are under head high. To me the small bowl at Venice beach is perfect. http://bit.ly/eLUuAd

va beach needs a decent concrete park with a decent bowl with "space" the vert ramp at trashmore is great the bowl before it was burned down was much better because it was wider and you had more room to flow.they had the right idea for northsides bowl but the tranny is tight and abrupt i only had one chance to skate there its too far away for me to get to.im not speaking for myself but im 6ft5 and like to flow, carve, blast airs, and get alot of speed i ride oldschool boards currently the original hammerhead i talk to and know alot of diehard skaters i'm a skaterat and they feel the same everything besides the vert ramp is oriented for street skaters vb doesnt need another street plaza with small ramps and tranny/limited space. also i was homeless for 5/6 yrs with my skateboards i camped in and around trashmore woke up there and skated everyday im there often. theres something everywhere for beginners but alot of us neeed to go big.

I think we're all skate rats here. maybe I'd be better able to skate the bigger bowls if they had more space. I wouldn't say Trashmore is oriented to street skaters. It's kind of an uninspired mess. Maybe it's BMX oriented. it will be interesting to see what Team Pain comes up with. maybe we'll both be happy. mdpolen, if you see me at the meeting, I'd love to meet you.

get real. woodstock sucks donkey. easily the worst park i have ever skated in 40 years of riding. 10 foot vert wall with 1 foot of tranny, little kids standing in line to hit the fun box but blocking the quarter pipe. go home and play xbox.

Templeton said...

$ir Joe, I'll give you that Woodstock's quarterpipe is poorly conceived and executed, but if you've been skating for 40 years this park was not designed for you. You should be pretty happy with Williams Farm though.
