I'm glad Josh addressed the topics he covered. I agree with the point about how nothing has the staying power that it used to. I've been rewatching old Dan Drehobl parts and it makes me realize how often I used to watch those compared to how little I'll rewatch something today.
I'll watch Dan Rusin's videos, Grains II, Spirit Quest, and maybe Polar's I Like It Here. I know I used to view Static 4/5 a lot, too. A couple of the Threads Collective videos probably should get watched more, too. I'll occasionally throw on an older video for variety or research.
Maybe part of it goes beyond the massive overload of media, but also with getting older and changing your view of skateboarding. I don't need to watch a video to get motivated to skate. Simply getting out of work for the day is motivation enough. There's not exactly the extra free time either. I'd also rather watch a video after I skate at the end of the day, which is some odd little superstition/quirk that I have. I know I've said it before, but a lot of videos are oddly disappointing with skaters doing tricks I'll never do at cool spots that I'll never visit. You kind of stop caring about the minutia and focus on what you can do locally. The park I went to on Sunday doesn't have much I can do tricks on and I didn't try to do a lot that day, but it was still a really fun time.
