Thrasher advertising director Eben Sterling said Phelps clocked out with guitar in his hand in the tribute issue (June 2019). He vaguely suggested what happened if you connected the unsaid dots. You figure if he died from a sudden heart attack or stroke they would've added that to the obit.

I think Mark Oblow of all people helped Dylan Rieder get off pills and get his career back on track for the Gravis part.

All people do around here is drink. It's crazy. WNY/Buffalo is very much like Wisconsin. It's fun going out to all the bars and seeing all your friends, but after a while and getting older, the recovery from party time is too brutal. That's why I don't think I drink any more.

Yeah, billing skateboarding as an extreme lifestyle entity maybe doesn't apply in all places. What are we stoked on the most? The potential of Ryan Lay's low impact park.

On the other side of the coin, think about how many prominent skaters don't drink or party - Ed Templeton, Gilbert Crockett, Tyshawn Johnson, Alexis Sablone, etc. - and are open about it.

I thought the opening of Three Seasons where they signed the waivers and repainted the rail was a refreshing change from getting in a fight with security guards.

Tanner Van Vark is great. His mastery of tricks without ollies is cool. I felt like most of his tricks had been in ads or interviews already so you knew what was coming, not that there's anything wrong with that. He gets bonus points for skating to Kleenex/LiLiput.
