My friends in college smoked and they were all about collecting the Camel Cash to get the merch. I don't think they ever got anything too impressive, but they definitely got some stuff.
Pacífico did a collab with Lakai. Sprite tried to sponsor skateboarding and did a tour article with Big Brother. Dave Carnie did a solid job addressing the corporate sponsorship issues.
Park design is an odd creature. I don't think anybody else would want to skate what I want to skate and vice versa. I'm sure there would be plenty of overlap, but I'm just being realistic/self deprecating. I'm in support of less is more and having lots of space. Build more mellow shit to keep skateboarding accessible.
The shop here has a gnarly bowl and people do show up to skate it. They also have a bizarre street course that could be so much better, even with the limited amount of space.
I'm into the idea of building wooden obstacles. I started building some boxes and launch ramps after the plague hit to skateboard in the driveway. I don't love woodworking, but I'm OK with it/at it. The end result is the reward in that you have something new to skate. I'd like to have a bigger, low impact street set up somewhere, like recreations of the ramps in the old H-Street and New Deal videos. I don't really have the money or space, but I don't think this is a bad idea. I've also been eyeballing people who have nice concrete driveways, like you could put a bunch of ledges there and get some lines going. LOL.
