Everybody was trying to be cool and look like a skater with those DCs with the big letters on the side.

Shorts throw me off. It's too confusing looking down and seeing board, shoes, socks, legs, and shorts. I usually save a ratty pair of jeans with holes in them that are starting to get thin as summer skate wear. I actually can focus past the legs to skate in shorts if it is too hot, but I'd prefer not to. I'm perplexed how we used to skate in shorts as teenagers.

I buy a pair once every year or two from American Eagle at the mall here. They didn't have any colors I liked this spring so I ventured onto the internet and wound up with a pair of RVCA shorts. They are actually pretty nice. I remember how bad the sizing and styles were for skateboard shorts in the late 90s so I abandoned that part of the industry. Skate fashion sure has gotten a lot better.

I stick to light colored t-shirts. I bought a three pack of white tees to bring back mid 90s fashion. That's about it. I'm always cold either due to the weather or air conditioning so the heat doesn't bug me. Thus, shirtless plazza footage makes sense Pulaski, le Dome, Stalin...On the other hand, you cannot skate a cellar door wearing shorts or some very urban obstacle. That's a no no.
Although all the youngsters in Strobeck's videos seem to make a point to skate shirtless in non appropriate locations.
As far as short shorts, aka le Puig, aka ping pong shorts, i would trace back their origins to the life style of young euro thugs often sporting the shorts of their favorite football team. Thus, it always seems odd to me when some american or australian skater is rocking them. The epitome of that would be Chad Dixon displaying his fragile lower limbs in that Creep part.
